Modular Articulated Snake Robot
A personal robotics assembly study based on a chain of repeated articulated modules. The model explores serial linkage architecture, shared interfaces, servo-style joint packaging, support wheels, repeated fasteners, and a distinct head module within a manageable parametric assembly.

Project Overview
The project demonstrates how a complex-looking robot can be organised from a small number of reusable parts. Repetition, reference control, assembly hierarchy, and consistent joint orientation were prioritised to simplify revision and model management.
Project Category
Serial modular robotic mechanism
Design Focus
Repeated modules, joint orientation, assembly hierarchy, and shared interfaces
Main Components
Repeated body housings, servo-style joints, pivots, support wheels, head enclosure
Engineering Context
Personal robotics CAD study; no autonomous-control or physical-prototype claim
Software Context
Multi-CAD experience across SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, CATIA, and Fusion 360; public GLB exported from SolidWorks
Web Output
High-resolution render and Draco-compressed GLB
Status
Personal public portfolio case study
Engineering Challenge
Serial mechanisms amplify small inconsistencies. Every module needed matching interfaces and predictable joint axes while avoiding clashes between adjacent housings, supports, wheels, and fasteners.
Design Solution
A standard body module and pivot interface were repeated through the robot, with controlled orientation and a separate head enclosure. The geometry was reviewed within a multi-CAD workflow, and the latest SolidWorks web export is supplied as a Draco-compressed GLB.
Key Features
- Repeated articulated body modules with common mechanical interfaces
- Servo-style joints and controlled serial pivot orientation
- Support-wheel and fastener geometry represented across the chain
- Separate head enclosure integrated with the modular body architecture
- Parametric repetition reduces duplication and supports revision
- Draco-compressed browser model for interactive inspection
Project Deliverables
- Complete serial articulated robot assembly
- High-resolution public engineering render
- Draco-compressed GLB review model
- Public-safe mechanism case-study summary
